Before netball had a name, it had Clara.
In 1895, Clara Gregory Baer, a physical education teacher at Newcomb College in New Orleans, wrote one of the first rulebooks for women's basketball. No dribbling, no snatching the ball, and players staying in their own zones. Sound familiar? Those ideas became the foundation of the game we love today.
